A special map for the Lower Saxony state forests.

To optimise timber supply and logistics with partners, the Lower Saxony state forests (NLF) needed a navigation map that takes the forest as seriously as the road.

The starting point

The NLF wanted to digitise the timber logistics chain together with hauliers and buyers. The bottleneck: conventional navigation maps do not know the forest tracks the timber actually travels on. Local knowledge was mandatory, searching was routine.

The solution

In the Mapfusion process we merged the forestry administration's way data with commercial road data into a seamless, quality-assured special navigation map: passable forest tracks, forest compartments, POIs and rescue points, tuned for car and truck navigation to NLF requirements. Quality assurance ran iteratively; change notices from the forestry administration feed continuous updates.

The result

The state forests and their partners navigate on a shared map base, from mill traffic to skid trails, delivered as a complete package: software for Windows and Android, pre-installed hardware, updates and support from one hand.
