The team · Since 1994
34 waypoints. One goal: your people arrive.
None of the big map corporations shows you who you will be talking to. We do, and we do it the way we do everything: as a map. Every person a waypoint, every team a territory, and the one red route leads to your first appointment.
The team map
Where others show an org chart, we draw a territory.
Larger waypoints carry a profile with quotes straight from the team. And the red route ends where it always ends on this website: at your next appointment.
Everyone at a glance
The whole team, territory by territory.
The same people as on the map, as a list for looking things up. We keep adding roles and profiles over time.
Management & Administration

Bodo von Unruh
Since 1994
“I am bad at letting go: my partner, my car and my job have been with me for more than 30 years.”

Markus Hoyer
Since 2008
“Memorable: the moment our Localion lens ball on my desk used the sunlight to try to set its own packaging on fire.”

Peter
Since 2020
“I hold a black belt in Aikido and in Six Sigma.”
Annkathrin Friesen

Sales & Marketing

Jana Scharathow
Since 2023
“I use my many trips to my family in Germany, Belgium, Spain and Colombia to test our navigation intensively. And I am happy about every error I can fix right away.”

Thomas
Since 1996
“Good old e-mail.”

Tina
Since 2024
“I once sang in front of almost 1,000 people and got them to sing along.”
Map & Data

Sven
Since 2016
“Hardly anyone but me copes with the sat nav in my car, because I keep the map locked north-up. Maps that rotate with the driving direction feel unnatural to me by now.”

Andreas
Since 2010
“I have a positive record against chess grandmasters.”

Marc
Since 1995
“Travelling with friends, I am always the first navigator. The fastest or most comfortable route is rarely the point.”
Navigator

Max
Since 2017
“My laptop knows more passwords than I know birthdays.”

Roland
Since 2010
“On our first motorhome trips through the USA we had no sat navs at all, just paper maps. Which somehow made the whole thing much more exciting.”
Cloud

Tim
Since 2008
“In 2008 I asked Gregor for an internship slot. I have been here ever since.”

Katharina
Since 2017
“My desk is always a little chaotic, since everything gets parked there and it doubles as the kids’ painting table.”

Mark
Since 2019
“I am an in-house member of the Section 31 group while knowing nothing about Star Trek.”
Enterprise Solutions

Dietmar Senkbeil

Timo
Since 2008
“I spent three weeks in Iceland, working in parallel and exploring the Icelandic wilderness after hours.”

Victor
Since 2024
“Brewing a fresh coffee before every longer meeting.”

1994 to today
A baton handover, not a break.
Localion is a brand of LOGIBALL GmbH, founded in 1994 as a Fraunhofer institute spin-off. The way here is a route as well, with a handover that never left the road.
- 1994
Founded in Herne
As a Fraunhofer institute spin-off, the founders transferred logistics thinking from the factory floor to the traffic outside.
- 2000s
Map craft
LOGIBALL became a specialist for map data, Mapfusion and quality assurance, as a partner of the major map makers.
- 2010s
Own products
Projects became products: the Business Navigator, special maps for forestry and emergency services, cloud services.
- 2026
The baton
Co-founder Dr Roger Müller handed the management over to Bodo von Unruh and Markus Hoyer, and Dietmar Senkbeil became authorised officer. All three have been with the company for many years: a planned change from within the team, prepared for over a year.

“That it stays curious about solving our customers’ problems. Even when everyone says: that cannot be done.”
The full story of the handover is in our article “A baton passed on within the team”
