Utility field technician on site

Daily life out in the grid

Every minute of searching ends up in the incident report.

Transformer stations, wells, pumping stations, valves: your most important assets have no address. And your technicians' navigation pretends they do not exist.

Assets without an address

Night, heavy rain, a burst pipe: your technician stands at the field edge searching for the valve. The sat nav has never heard of it. The clock is running anyway.

Dispatching via spreadsheets and phone

Crews in the field, steered by lists and callbacks. Nobody sees which trip was wasted. Your technicians remember every one.

Response time as an SLA factor

The technical codes do not ask whether your team finds the fault location. They ask when.

From searching to finding: a callout with Localion

An image sequence tells an early-morning callout: at 05:53 the grid reports a pressure drop. The regulator station lies behind the tree line, without address or light. Localion guides the crew right to the door, with the operator's own assets as destinations and over 1m km of ways standard maps are missing. When the sun rises at 06:47, the fault has long been fixed.

Night and rain: a service vehicle at an unlit regulator station at the forest edge.
05:53. Pressure drop in the grid. The regulator station lies behind the tree line: no address, no light, no coverage.
Morning light: the same station with an open door and warm light, the job complete.
06:47. Localion guided right to the door. By sunrise, the fault has long been fixed.
„How do you meet response times when Google Maps does not know the fault location?“
No standard sat nav answers this question. We do.

Localion Navigator + Localion.IQ

Select. Send. Arrive.

Dispatching and navigation become one flow: your assets are navigation targets, not mute GIS points.

  1. Select the asset

Pick the regulator station, valve or substation directly on the map, from your own asset data.

  2. Send the order

One click instead of a phone chain: the work order lands with the right person in the field.

  3. Navigate to the object

Turn-by-turn right up to the asset, including service and farm tracks. The gap between GIS and last mile is closed.

Pressure & time windows

Four deadlines, one bottleneck.

Four developments hit grid operators at once. All four end at the same point: your people need to be on site faster.

NIS2 in force

The implementation act applies. The circle of obligated companies grows many times over, evidence duties included.

CER umbrella act

Physical resilience, risk analyses and resilience plans become mandatory. The reachability of your assets is now part of the audit.

Technical codes

Short response times in fault clearance: navigation to the fault location becomes an SLA factor.

2030

Smart meter rollout

Only 23.3 percent of mandatory cases done. The quota demands far more, and millions of on-site appointments are still ahead.

Reference from practice

On-call service at gas utilities: 30 minutes is the measure.

Technical codes demand short first-response times. For a gas utility we made reachability visible and reshaped the on-call organisation.

Travel times instead of gut feeling

Localion Cloud computes travel times from on-call staff homes to all grid points, with the special track network and vehicle types.

Deficits made visible

Maps show which grid sections are reachable within the required 30 minutes and which are not.

Scenarios instead of disputes

Team sizes and on-call districts can be simulated before the organisation is rebuilt.

Sales objections, answered honestly

What grid operators ask us.

We already have Google Maps. Why another sat nav?

Google Maps navigates to addresses. Your substation, valve and well do not have any. Localion turns your assets themselves into navigation targets and knows over 1m km of service, field and forest tracks that standard maps are missing.

Also: consumer navigation only works online, and the locations of your critical infrastructure do not belong in the routing logs of a US corporation.

Is this not too big an IT project for us?

No. Localion Navigator is an app, not a server in your basement. Rollout works like any office app: install, load asset data, drive. Municipal utilities are operational in days, not quarters.

We are planning with SAP. Does that fit?

Very well. SAP names Localion as a data partner for predictive routing in SAP Field Service Management. You can start with Localion now and grow into your SAP landscape later. No duplicated effort.

What does it cost?

A predictable per-user annual licence instead of pay-per-call. We quote a concrete indication for your team size in the first call. As a rule of thumb from projects: one avoided wasted trip per week already justifies the licence.

Is it compliant for critical infrastructure?

The architecture is designed for critical infrastructure: offline operation without cloud dependency, hosting in Germany, GDPR-compliant with data-processing agreements at short notice. We will gladly walk through your security concept in detail.
