On-call service: 30 minutes is the measure.

Gas utilities must secure first-response times from technical codes. Whether the organisation delivers used to be gut feeling. Now it is a map.

The starting point

The technical rulebook demands short first-response times in case of faults. At one gas utility it was unclear whether every grid point was truly reachable by the on-call crew within the required 30 minutes, especially at night, starting from staff homes.

The solution

Localion Cloud computed travel times from on-call staff homes to all grid sections, with the special way network for non-public tracks, vehicle types and, where wanted, priority-response scenarios. Reachability deficits became visible on maps; improvement scenarios with different team sizes and on-call district layouts could be simulated before rebuilding the organisation.

The result

The utility now knows its reachability per grid point and can shape on-call districts with data instead of debates. The analysis uses the routing, matrix, mapping, optimisation and geocoding APIs.
